Title:Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting!: A Bridge From Addiction To Early Recovery

Author: Robert Boich

About the Book:

Making a resolution to address an alcohol or substance abuse issue is only the beginning. The real work begins when the alcoholic or addict acknowledges that something has to be done. As one counselor put it, “An addict only has to change one thing: everything.” More than mere abstinence or simply eliminating certain people and places from one’s daily routine, a successful recovery requires a brand-new approach in dealing with life. In this compelling, intimate narrative, Boich shares his struggles, and insights encountered during his first six months in recovery.

My Review:

I was watching Oprah one day…when she said “in order to heal, you have to feel”. Most people figure if you are an alcoholic or drug addict you are just a horrible person. Honestly, most people I know that are abusing one or the other is only masking things they do not want to deal with. As Robert states and addresses in this book, it is only the beginning when you decide to address the situation; it’s a whole other ballpark when you START to address the situation.

It’s funny how I see so much of myself in the author…similarities yet differences. The author wrote, I scrapbooked my way through my pain. He was helped with his issues with his family; I had no family helping me. Yet we both learned to deal with our own private issues, and learned to be better people in spite of the bad decisions. I wish I would have had this book when I was dealing with my stuff, let me tell you!

The book will give you a more personal insight on things and helpful information; it’s not your normal book. It is straight up information that truly will change your life for the better if you allow it to. When he says “it shows that sobriety is much more than mere abstinence and that alcohol and drug use is a sign of deep personal problems that only true sobriety can address”, he is completely 100% right on.

This book will be like having your own personal helper to take you to the next level. Being sober isn’t a bad thing, it is actually a good thing, especially when you have to deal with the people in your life that you would rather not. Deal with it once and for all so you never have to deal with it again. Remember one thing…this author has been there, I have been there…so you have 2 people who truly know what it’s like to put one foot in front of the other. I didn’t have anything to help me through it, now you have this book!

You owe it to yourself, or to your friend/family member who has the alcohol or drug problem, to pick up this book and deal with the crap that needs to be dealt with. Pay it forward, and then pass the book on to someone else for help. Let me put it to you this way, you can either lose your loved ones, your job, your freedom, your life….or you can be one of the lucky ones who get to rebuild and do it right the second time around! I promise you it is so worth it…dealing with all the pain and crap that at the end what truly matters is YOU!

This review is my own honest opinion!
